Saul has been a dedicated figure in Columbia’s restaurant scene for over 20 years.
His culinary journey began at The Alexander, a cherished local spot, where he developed his passion for cooking before its closure. From there, Saul worked at various restaurants throughout Columbia, refining his skills, and dreaming of owning a place of his own.
Saul opened Tina’s Pizza and Steakhouse with his wife Tina by his side. Unfortunately, the financial crisis 2008 brought significant challenges, forcing them to close their beloved restaurant. But Saul’s resilience and love for cooking never faltered. Determined to rebuild, he worked multiple jobs, always making time to cook and connect with the community he holds dear.
During this time, Saul joined the Jazz and the Columbia Country Club staff, while also operating the Hungry Tiger food truck at special events. His dedication and hard work eventually led to an incredible opportunity: opening Hungry Tiger at Perche Creek in Midway during the evenings.
After years of juggling multiple jobs and running his restaurant at night, Saul and Tina achieved a major milestone—they purchased the first Hungry Tiger restaurant in Hallsville, Missouri. Thanks to the overwhelming support from the community, they didn’t stop there. Just a year and a half later, Saul and Tina opened their second Hungry Tiger location in Clark, Missouri.
Saul and his family take pride in their hard work, dedication, and the motto that defines their journey: “Always stay hungry.”
